Corrosion Engineer – RBI (Hybrid Role)

Role overview 
We are seeking a Corrosion Engineer to join our Houston-based team in a hybrid capacity. This role focuses on corrosion evaluations and consulting for chemical, refinery, fertilizer, and petrochemical plants, supporting RBI implementation and mechanical integrity projects. 

Key responsibilities 

• Review operating and inspection histories to identify potential corrosion risks 

• Evaluate corrosion mechanisms and assign corrosion rates using industry standards and historical data 

• Conduct corrosion studies and present findings to client site teams 

• Prepare high-quality technical reports and documentation 

• Support RBI implementation, including damage mechanism reviews, inspection planning, and risk assessment 

• Collaborate with senior engineers and clients to align inspection and integrity strategies 

Required expertise 

• Solid understanding of corrosion mechanisms and mitigation in refinery, petrochemical, chemical, and fertilizer facilities 

• Experience with materials selection and corrosion control strategies 

• Familiarity with API and NACE/AMPP standards (especially API 970, 580, 581, 510, and 571) 

• Knowledge of NDE methods and inspection techniques 

• Strong technical reporting and client-facing communication skills 

Desirable experience 

• API 571 certification 

• Experience with RBI software tools (e.g., GE APM, PCMS) 

• Background in failure analysis, welding, or repair recommendations 

• Familiarity with inspection planning and equipment risk prioritization 

Candidate requirements 

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or materials engineering 

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a corrosion engineering role within relevant industries 

• Ability to travel up to 15% based on project needs 

• Comfortable working in a hybrid model (2–3 days in office per week)
